Doug Cloud Presents on the Georgia VRP at the Annual Southeast Brownfields Conference in Orlando and at the Annual Georgia Environmental Conference in Jekyll Island

At the 1st Annual Southeast Brownfields Conference on October 30, 2014, Doug Cloud was featured on the panel addressing Implementing Cooperative Regulatory Change through Private/Public Dialogue.  Doug was asked to talk about his experiences with the Georgia Voluntary Remediation Program and the very successful legislative and stakeholder process that introduced a cost-effective and timely cleanup program to Georgia.  Most recently, Mr. Cloud was involved in EPD’s effort to amend the HSRA rules, effective October 14, 2014, which began to incorporate certain VRP standards into HSRA.

Mr. Cloud and KMCL are representing numerous participants with enrollment and remediation of sites under the Georgia VRP to achieve expedited delisting.  We have been at the forefront in working with the Georgia Industry Environmental Coalition (GIEC) and EPD to implement the VRP and bring modern risk based corrective action standards to cleanups in Georgia.

On August 21, 2014, Mr. Cloud moderated a panel at the Annual Georgia Environmental Conference, EPD Land Protection Branch, Response and Remediation Program Update, covering VRP risk-based cleanups, HSRA rule changes, RCRA administrative orders, and other important legislative, regulatory, and technical developments from 2014.  Mr. Cloud’s panel featured Jeff Cown, EPD Land Protection Branch Chief, and Derrick Williams, EPD Response and Remediation Program Manager.  For more information about the above presentations or the VRP, please contact Doug Cloud.
