John Allen focuses on complex litigation and regulatory matters that impact states, local governments, and businesses. His unique background as both an environmental attorney and former engineer provides John with a technical foundation that proves invaluable when tackling multifaceted environmental challenges.
Since 2005, John has represented the State of Georgia as a Special Assistant Attorney General in the high-profile "Water Wars" – managing litigation, interstate negotiations, and regulatory matters in disputes with Alabama, Florida, and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers concerning federal reservoirs and state water rights. This work has included equitable apportionment litigation before the U.S. Supreme Court.
John has successfully represented local governments in state court litigation with particular strength in expert witness preparation and e-discovery. His experience also includes advising clients before the Georgia Public Service Commission on supply contracts, rate case litigation, tariffs, and certification matters.
John’s engineering background in the textiles and plastics industries provides me with unique insight when addressing environmental challenges enhances his ability to translate complex technical and regulatory issues into practical legal strategies.
