KMCL is pleased to announce the addition of more top talent to our ranks—our newest member, Kate Hopkins, joined the firm as a Senior Associate in our Atlanta office last month. Kate comes to us from a major law firm where she focused her practice on environmental litigation and environmental issues in property transactions. She is already recognized by Best Lawyers® in its “Ones to Watch” category. With an understanding of both litigation strategy and regulatory compliance requirements, Kate helps clients develop creative solutions to issues involving environmental impacts. She represents clients in a wide variety of environmental litigation matters in state and federal courts. Her work includes litigation of major contamination cases under the Clean Water Act, the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act, Superfund laws, and state common law. Kate has defended clients in environmental actions brought by both citizen groups as well as state and federal agencies. Kate also advises clients in transactions involving the purchase and sale of contaminated real property. This includes advice and representation related to vapor intrusion, underground storage tanks, and petroleum contamination. Kate has experience with Brownfields and Voluntary Clean-Up Programs across the country. Kate often works with a wide variety of environmental regulatory schemes including the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act, the Clean Water Act, the National Environmental Policy Act, and the Clean Air Act and state counterparts
